Built From Personal Growth

The NC State Discomfort Club was started in 2022 because the founder wanted to bring the growth from doing uncomfortable things to others while building a community.

FAQs for NC State Discomfort Club

Common questions students have when joining the Discomfort Club.

Setting up the initial club will take time to get it established, as well as to complete the training. Throughout the year it isn't too much of a burden but effort will need to be put into weekly meetings, managing your community and eventually your team as you start to scale.

You can start it alone but we recommend finding a few friends or students at your university that share your mission and passion. We also have a community of other leaders to help you.

Starting your community is completely free, and we recommend starting your community this way. As you scale and run larger events you can consider charging a small member due to fund the events.

Discomfort Club has meetings where the group does an uncomfortable activity as a group and reflects on it. We also encouraging hosting bigger events as well as weekend retreats as you begin to scale.

Yes! Officially registering as a Student Organization is part of the process for launching your club. This process often takes time to get approval, so don't wait to start. Start by hosting free events in public places.
